Bernard Olabinjo "Bobby" Benson (1922–1983) was a famous Nigerian musician who helped create modern Highlife music. He mixed traditional African beats with American jazz and swing. He was a master of many instruments, including the guitar, saxophone, and trumpet. His classic 1950s song "Taxi Driver" became a massive hit across West Africa. Benson also ran a famous night club in Lagos called Caban Bamboo. His band trained many future African music legends, including Sir Victor Olaiya, Victor Uwaifo, and Fela Kuti.
