Carlos Burity was a giant of Angolan semba music. He sang from the heart, often in Kimbundu.
He started back in 1968 with a pop-rock band called Cinco mais um. By 1974, he was dropping huge hits like "Ixi Iami" and "Recado." Over a forty-year run, he put out 13 albums, including classics like Wanga and Massemba.
He also gave us unforgettable tunes like "Malalanza," "Tia Joaquina," "Tona Cashi," "Manazinha," and "Mucangiami."
We sample these tracks often on Jabulani Radio. If you want to dive into classic African music, start right here.
