Menga Waku is an original singer and bass likembé player for the Kinshasa-based group Konono N°1, famous for their raw, amplified, DIY "Bazombo trance" sound. While the band was founded by the late Mingiedi Mawangu, Menga Waku is noted as an original singer and has been a consistent member, playing a key role on albums like Congotronics and Assume Crash Position, where his contributions are described as concise and emphasizing rhythm. Following the passing of Mingiedi and his son Augustin, Menga Waku continues to front the band alongside the third-generation lead likembé player, Makonda.
