Professor Jay is a true legend of Tanzanian music. He helped build the Bongo Flava movement from the ground up.

He first found fame in the nineties with the group Hard Blasters. Their hit song "Chemsha Bongo" changed how people viewed hip hop in East Africa.

Later, he went solo and dropped massive tracks like "Nikusaidiaje" and "Ndio Mzee." His music always spoke the truth about poverty and politics.

He didn't just stop at music. In 2015, he entered politics and became a Member of Parliament for Mikumi.

Recently, he faced a massive health battle with kidney failure. After spending over a year in the hospital, he beat the odds and made an inspiring comeback.
