The Ngoleni Brothers Band is a significant name in Akamba Pop music, founded by the Kenyan musician and songwriter Dickson Mutuku Mulwa. Mulwa, who also goes by Dicky Mulwa, was born in the 1950s and is from Ngoleni Village in Kathiani Sub-County, Machakos County. His musical interest began in the 1960s by listening to the radio. He played live music in Ruiru town at Amingo Bar before moving to Nairobi, where he collaborated with established artists like the late Onesmus Musyoki and the late Joseph Mutaiti of the Kalambya Boys Band. The Ngoleni Brothers Band was officially formed by Mulwa in 1982 after he left the Kalambya Boys & Kalambya Sisters. The band is known for releasing several popular love songs, including "Ngilesi" and "Munyiva." An album titled Greatest of Ngoleni Brothers, composed by Dickson Mulwa, was released in 1986. Other musicians who were part of the band include Peter Nguma, who joined in 1986 and played solo guitar alongside Mulwa (guitarist, composer, and singer) and Sila Munyao (backup vocals). The band is a notable example of the Akamba Pop Bands that emerged in the 1980s.
